UK-based graphic designer Tim Sanders won a D&AD pencil this summer for his Microscopic Vinyl Record Grooves project: high magnification (x 100) photographs comparing the grooves of classical, drum & bass and rock records. Nice work!

It’s good to see Tony McDermott back drawing inna comic book style for the sleeve of the new Roots Manuva/Wrong Tom album, Duppy Writer (Big Dada). He’s only done a few comic-style album covers in the last twenty years but it’s always a treat when he does. Here are some from recent years: Sizzla’s “Ghetto Youth-Ology” (Greensleeves, 2009), Alborosie’s “Escape From Babylon” (Greensleeves, 2009), Sly & Robbie’s “Dancehall Attack” (Victor, 2005) and Earl Zinger’s “Attack Of The DJs” (!K7, 2004). Isn’t it time for a Tony McDermott reggae cartoon? Like an animated Rockers or Harder They Come. Can you imagine…?
