Teena Marie, the ivory queen of soul, has tragically died at her home in California, aged just 54. I’ve been playing one of my favourite Teena tunes, “If I Were A Bell”, all day. Goodbye wonderful Lady T.

Mavado, Gyptian & Gappy Ranks @ Brixton Academy

Last Sunday Gappy Ranks, Gyptian and Mavado came to Brixton Academy for a Christmas stageshow extravaganza. Despite the snowy weather and treacherous roads the place was absolutely ram upstairs and down! Gappy had the whole crowd singing “Heaven In Her Eyes”, Gyptian mashed up the dance with “Hold Yuh” and “Serious Times” and headliner Mavado sent the whole place into a frenzy with “Hope & Pray” and “Long Distance Stulla”. Selloffff!!!
Gyptian – Mr Hold Yuh.
Mavado – man a general.
