If you made a compilation with Jetstar or HMV etc I’d consider buying it..A Heavee list indeed

I am sitting here in MoBay, Jamaica looking at your top 100 list and while I could easily find tunes to replace some on your list, they would mostly be like for like (i.e. one Morgan Heritage tune for another). Good list and shows how strong reggae remained in the noughties whatever anyone says…bless up!

Yo Baggy, there were a few Morgan Heritage tunes that nearly made it in. “Nothing To Smile About”, “Jah Revive I&I” and “Love You Right” were all in the list at some point. “Down By The River” and “Don’t Haffi Dread” were released during the nineties, otherwise they would have been in. I’m open to suggestions though if you think I forgot something. Talking of Mobay, I thought about including the Cocoa Tea’s “Sweet Life” but it didn’t quite make it. As for the noughties being strong for reggae, I think they were, but the nineties were much stronger if you consider all the classic Buju, Garnett, Capleton, Sizzla, Beres, Anthony B…

Yes Al I would definitely put “Nothing To Smile About”in that listen because of the riddim they ride is one of the strongest riddims over the noughties. Etana’s “Warrior Love” would also be on there as the rise of female vocalists is a good thing.
I agree the 90s was stronger as a whole with more seminal records that blew you away like Buju etc
I am far from my records at the moment, so when I get back to Europe will check a few more suggestions. In time I will include this list in my next blog post etc.

    Bless
